(Random side note: I love the name “Sabrina” and would like to name my daughter that someday)

Pack a picnic basket for lunch and drive to the marina to have a picnic on the grass while watching the sailboats go by. Chace Park in Marina del Rey is a nice place to do this at. I’m using the Santa Monica area as my location for this date, but adapt plans to your location if you live elsewhere. A lake or plush green park is a nice substitute.
This is an outdoor date, so dress light and comfortable, just as Sabrina did on her “date” with Linus (see first picture):

After enjoying the picnic and breezy ocean air, head over to Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Park. There are plenty of things to do and sights to see to keep you entertained for a few hours. For a cheap souvenir of your date, take pictures in a photo-booth. It usually costs around $3 and you get a fun keepsake out of it. Geoff and I did this when we went to the OC Fair a couple years ago and I made our photo-booth pictures into a bookmark and gave it to Geoff last Valentine’s Day. He reads a lot and, whenever he opens his book, now has something fun and memorable to look at.

When you’re done at the pier and park, end your day with a walk on the beach and try to catch the sunset. I love moments like this because usually you don’t have anything to say, and it’s perfectly fine. All you have to do is enjoy the sunset in silence.
Once you’re home from your date, pop some popcorn in the microwave, cuddle on the couch and watch a good movie.
Total cost of date?: $20-$25
Breakdown: $3 for photo-booth, $2.50 for microwave popcorn, the rest for groceries for your picnic. Park, Pier and Beach all for free.
One of my favorite scenes from the movie “Sabrina”:
Such a cute song.
